Jazz inspired glass doodling suncatcher by Wayne Stratz catching the sunrise at the Jesuit Center in Wernersville, PA

My spiritual retreats are surely also artistic retreats. Each of the first three days cards are drawn for Margaret; and eventually cards are drawn for all those who join me for 21 consecutive silent meals.

A healing mandala was drawn for a Jesuit I have known for a decade.

In our studio, Margaret is working on her parts of two abstract collaborations I designed for a client, who kindly waited a few weeks to allow me to create them while in silence. I also drew a design that is a memorial project. Time, reflection, silence has led to some of my best design work.

Though I am the one who frequents the Jesuit Center these days, Margaret went there first. She was greeted by a glass mosaic by Hildreth Meiere, the piece of art that inspired her to create glass mosaics. My room was on the third floor, one evening I took my camera to the balcony and looked out at the mosaic.
